Both sides now

Here's Loyal Reader Number One. From both ends. Picture taken at Calaveras Big Trees State Park.

Fine day today. I dragged out of bed at an extraordinarily early hour, but it was pretty much uphill from there. I had lunch with my old friend Al. He's doing fine - thanks for asking. I also went to Fry's and bought a new external drive for my Macintosh. It looks just like the Mini, has 500 GB, and even has powered hubs for USB and Firewire. Cool!

I pretty much spent the evening so far getting the new drive installed and getting Leopard installed on it. Now I'm waiting for my data from the Mac's internal drive to transfer over. Only fourteen minutes to go! Then I can start finding out what went wrong.

In the meantime, I'm using Loyal Reader Number Two's computer. He and Loyal Reader Number One are out at battle-axe, so it's free for the moment. I just hope there are some pictures on it. We'll all know in a minute or two.

In fact, I'll look for one right now. Stand by.

I'm back. There don't appear to be any pictures on this computer at all. I'll have a wait a few minutes until my machine wakes back up.

In the meantime, I'll see you tomorrow.

First, the name of the page was "Heres-fjfj.html". So you forgot to remove the placeholder or something. And second, that page on defragmenting a Mac's hard disk was misinformation. Mac OS 9 was not as advanced as OS X is (so we can cut the article a little slack), but even so, defragmenting was nowhere near as necessary as on a PC. And defragmenting is completely unnecessary on OS X. And even if it was necessary, there were OS 9 tools that would perform the operation for you instead of copying all your data to an external drive and then copying it over again.
Other than that, excellent post. Except for the picture, which I disliked also. Hmm.

It's a good picture of you. You might not be in the most dignified pose, but you can't have everything. Into every life a little humiliation must fall.

Regarding the post name - I usually write the blog before I add a picture, so I put in a placeholder for the first paragraph and don't add the title until later. If I save the post before I add the picture and title, it uses whatever it finds in the first few lines of the first paragraph as the page name. I wish it wouldn't do that.

I glanced through the defragmenting article before I linked to it (I always check the content - and the entire site if it doesn't look absolutely trustworthy - before I link, this being strictly a family blog). It seemed ridiculous to me, but when did this blog ever leave something out simply because it was ridiculous?

Actually, come to think of it, things usually get included because they're ridiculous.
