Vacation
See you on the flip side.
pictures and text.
updated weekdays.

I'd love to try the Aqua Skipper! I can't figure out how it stays afloat!
Gary enjoys the jacuzzi bathtub at his parents' house regularly, and I think he would agree that it's an absolute essential. I think Belle would enjoy it too, given the look on her face in this picture.
BTW, your host is slow and crappy tonight. I'm typing in a weird-looking tiny box. I hope this post will show up!
It showed up. It's working fine for me now . . . must have been operator error.
This sort of thing has happened before... and it has always been due to human error.
I'm not quite sure how the Aqua Skipper works either; perhaps it's similar somehow to the hyrdofoil boats.

I promise not to post on your blog whilst we're driving from PA to CA. (Obviously, since I won't be able to.) That is, unless I find an open wireless network along our way.
Thanks for including the lovely picture and adding Mia to the list! She is very excited to join the family, or at least to try to kick me to death, one or the other.
Good luck on your voyage... when do you guys leave?
And again, the medical team is priceless... especially since the patient has no head. We're hoping for a slightly better outcome.
Like Andy, I will not be able to post to the blog while traveling. It will be interesting to see if there are any readers loyal enough to do so...
Regarding the trip, Mom, Mark, and Belle leave here on Sunday morning and Andy and I leave on Monday morning.
The packers will pack on Monday and Tuesday and the loaders will load on Wednesday.
If a miracle happens and the loaders finish at a decent hour, we'll at least start heading towards Ohio on Wednesday. Otherwise, we go on Thursday. The Morrow family campout is Thursday through Sunday morning and then we push on further west.
We have no idea where we'll be staying during the cross-country part of the trip or even how far we want to go on which days, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. If we can't find a nice state park, maybe we can find a KOA. If we can't find a KOA, there's always the WalMart parking lot.
Weary travelers stopped by to say goodbye to PA friends on August 2. Photo sent in since I don't know how to post here. We will miss the Morrows (well, some of them).

I would love to take credit, but all the art work by LRN2 was also photographed by LRN2. I gave him that task to accomplish before the original artwork was "lost." Also, I believe the Aboriginal art of the 17th is more Asian as in a samurai than aboriginal, but LRN2 could put us straight.
Wake me up on tuesday. All in all, nice artwork, Mark.
I, too, love the artwork! Penguins are a real favorite of mine, and I like how they look so happy and excited. In fact, Mia already has a huge stuffed penguin, but it is decidedly more sedate-looking than Mark's cheerful ones.

Well! That's the best art I've ever seen in my entire life! It's a masterpiece! It's worth millions!
What exactly was the extent of the digital modifications? Nothing except rotating it so that the penguin was upright, right?
It was much, much more than that. The picture had been taken at an angle, so I had to stretch the top corners out to make it square again. Brilliant work, if I do say so myself.
And I agree that it is a masterpiece.

Like you said, I won't be able to leave comments, so I'm just going to leave a couple weeks worth of comments now - NOT. I won't put you good people through that torture.
I'm working on a book called "Applied Cryptography." So far, so good. I'm enjoying it a lot.
Maybe you can use a word processor and write in the train. Then you can make it a habit to copy all of the text into the blogging window. Perhaps that will work?...
I thought it would be as easy as using a word processor too, but when I tried it a while ago, Word insisted on pasting its contents as HTML (even when I tried saving it as plain text!), which was correctly interpreted by Blogger, but looked very strange. I had to go in and edit each and every word.
On the other hand, I might be able to use a different text editor. I'll have to test that one.

I like Miracle, the Sacred White Buffalo. I feel a spiritual awakening coming to the world thanks to the birth of a non-albino white buffalo! ;)
Excellent!
I think Miracle thought she was a chameleon! Did you look at all the color changes?!
I hadn't looked at all the pictures. Cool!

I can't wait to move in to our new house! Or to have Katie and Gary and Paul and Melissa come visit! Oh boyohboyohboyohboyohboyohboyohboy.
I love how my doctor is the "Demented Doctor from the Island of Blood." I also really like Belle's "fine" picture!
Should I reveal Top Secret Baby Info? It's a human!
I know Mom thinks the paint is too dark, but I really like it. It's definitely a color that is in style right now, and I don't think she should paint over the $5000 custom paint job! Actually, the upstairs loft at Paul and Melissa's is a very similar color (theirs may be a touch grayer - hard to tell from an indoor picture), and it looks really nice. I've already been impressed with Mom's willingness to branch out from bleachy-white over the past few years when it comes to paint; maybe it's time for her to take it to the next level and accept the lovely brown you've paid so dearly for!! :)
I don't object to the color or even the darkness of the paint entirely. I think the thing that bothers me is that there's SOOO much of it! However, I maybe slowed down in my efforts because I realized that not only would I have to buy all the painting supplies, but that I would also have to buy a ladder to paint. Then I thought I could use those couple days we have the house before we leave for PA to measure windows and get in an order for blinds so they'd be there by the time we got back. Then I realized I'd have to buy a tape measure....

By the way, we're excited about LRN5, LRN3, and their respective spouses and/or babies coming to the SUL in December too. If your plans have to change, just send the baby.
And I'll keep my eye out for surplus digital cameras for you. I absolutely love mine, and so does LRN4. I'm not afraid to take a lot of pictures, and it's great to have them immediately on my computer.
Perhaps. But not until my study of cryptography is almost complete - otherwise it will turn up just being less secure than something that already exists. I'm excited to begin, though!
I have DSL and DirecTV, and so far so good. The good thing about it, of course, is that you have a dedicated line instead of a party line with cable, so I'm never competing with anyone else for bandwidth. I have the lowest kind available here, and I think it's fine, but they also have bigger options for speed that probably aren't all that much more expensive. Mine is through Qwest, by the way. And the satellite is only about $25/month since it's bundled. Just thought I'd give my 2-cents on DSL - I haven't had any real problems yet. Well, except for today when I was trying to read an online book that I had to access through the UA library's website so that it could establish my identity as affiliated with an institution. I was also running my webmail and a couple of MS Word documents, and at one point, I just decided to restart the computer because I think the book site was draining all available memory.
So, does the offer stand to just send the baby anytime? How about for the first two years?
And about your horse - I can't help but notice that you rode him bareback, which is always something of a risk. He looks pretty vicious with his mouth open like that. Or maybe just demented.
Correction for LRN5 - he may not have had a bridle, but he definitely had a saddle. I'm no barbarian, you know.
We'll be happy to take the baby any time. Maybe not quite for two years, though...

It's always nice to have waaay more material to read than you can possibly ever read. For example, I'm definitely not going to read every bit of this textbook I've checked out about anti-virus software. Most of it is too boring. But I need to get started on some of the fiction I checked out before it's time for us to return it and move.
Andy, I would highly recommend that you go to grad school! Then you can have waaay more material than is humanly possible to read assigned to you in ridiculously short periods of time. And then, boring or not, you can be held responsible for these enormous masses of reading materials! Plus, at our university library, the checkout time is 6 months (unless someone else recalls it), so you can have it sitting on your desk making you feel guilty for not having gotten to it yet for an entire half of a year!
By the way, Dad, I really need a digital camera. I don't have one and I would be happy to contribute some desert scenes from Arizona, but it is much more difficult to develop and scan in regular film pictures (not to mention more expensive). So if you have an extra digital camera laying around with no one to love it, you could send it my way!!
Where would we send pictures to, so they can be shown on the blog?
I'm sending you an email to tell you where to send them. Unfortunately, if I put the address here, spammers might get it.

Well, sorry to hear that your first experience with buying a book from Fry's has been so negative. Oh well, we live and we learn. That article on "OOP is just baggage" was interesting; I doubt that will become a main-stream theory for a long time to come (if ever), but I'll have to give it some thought. He might be right.
Now that I realize that our posts are being monitored and used to determine our quality as readers, I am fully committed to not being sub-standard. Consider my comment posted!
I talked with #4 for a while today, and it sounds like things are going well for you guys. I'm really looking forward to at least seeing Mom and the aunts next week, and I am very excited to visit all of you at the SUL for Christmas.

Good luck on driving LRN1. It's not that hard once you get the hang of it. I've been driving since October, and other than a small crash in January, I've done fine.
We'll have to hear a little more about the small crash in January!
I was driving with my dad, and I got distracted, and I hit the car in front of me when they stopped. I was in the van, and I hit a truck, so the other car had very little damage, and the van was pretty well wrecked. The hood, bumper, grill, radiator and a bunch of other stuff had to be replaced. I also got a ticket for following too close, and I had to go to court. No one got hurt though.
How sad! I imagine you're much wiser now.

Today's 12 Morrowlife Comments:
I can't wait! See you all in a while.
Greetings from the Manteca-to-Great-America train! Loyal Reader Number One and I have started the journey to Gardenville. We're riding the train I'll be taking to work. It's comfortable and nice. The Wifi works, but is very s..l..o..w. It's free, though, so I guess I can't complain. Oh wait - apparently I can.
Post, Loyal Readers.
Dad and I are riding on the ACE train in the free Wifi car, so I'll leave a comment here. So far our trip has been going fine, but we've only been out for about 30 minutes. Hopefully we won't have as much trouble at the airport as Mom and Mark did.
Wish us luck.
Nice to see you on the vacation.
Am I posting?
Hooray! I am!
Greetings to all readers, loyal and otherwise. I haven't posted in a long time, but here I am. Work has been ridiculously busy along with the standard poor environment and supervision. However, breakthroughs have been made which make the workplace much more bearable. While I am still looking and applying for new work, I can at least go to work without the dread that used to be associated with that activity.
All is well with us at home. We have a new pet! She is a 2 year old ball python named Eva. We (and by we I mean I) love having her around. Our other resident reader is a little afraid of poor Eva, but the fear is subsiding. Our friendly kitties are also doing well. We finally got a digital camera, so pictures will be arriving in everyone's email boxes soon.
I'm on my way to bed, so enjoy the trip back to Gardenville-Manteca Express!
I've been intending to post, but nothing interesting happened until yesterday. Mostly this summer I've been helping my mom paint some rooms in our house, which is pretty boring. Yesterday, though, we bought a viola and a violin for me. I've played violin for five years now, and recently my violin teacher started me on viola. For the summer, I was just borrowing a viola from the school, but since I have to give it back in just over a week, my parents decided we should buy one. It cost quite a bit, but it sounds amazing. Then while we were looking for violas, I started playing violins at the shops we were at, and I decided that I wanted a better violin for my 16th birthday (which really isn't until October). We found a really nice one for quite a bit more than the viola, but my parents decided it was time I upgraded from my $200 pawn shop violin anyways. While we were at it, I got a nice bow for both the viola and the violin, and I got some nice cases for both of them too, so the whole thing ended up costing a lot. The instruments sound really good though, and it makes me sound a lot better, even though I really don't play that well. Plus it was a lot of fun, because all last week we went from shop to shop, and I played over 60 violins and about 25 violas, which is always enjoyable. So pretty much, yesterday was one of the most exciting days I've had this summer, which will probably make two this week, because we're going white water rafting on Saturday. Anyways, I hope you guys have had a great trip.
Greetings from beautiful Wells, Nevada! The trip is going well - we've only had to take the trailer to the shop once so far, and it conveniently broke down only about a quarter mile from a decent repair facility! Somebody's definitely watching out for us.
How nice to hear from Loyal Readers Three and Seven. Thanks for checking in and watch for Official Morrowlife Posts to begin again next Tuesday.
Hello from Wells, Nevada. We're at the Mountain Shadows RV park, which is basically a parking lot with full hook-ups for RVs. It's pretty dismal. Oh well, there's nothing better for a long ways. They do, however, have electric, water, sewer, cable, telephone, and wireless internet at every site. So we're doing OK. Glad to hear that things are going well at your job, Paul. From what I gather, it's pretty miserable. Also glad to hear about your new instruments, Hannah. We bought a baby grand piano before we left Philadelphia that's being moved along with the rest of our stuff. It's not perfect (and it's pretty old - built in 1930s or so) but it's much better than the ugly studio upright we used to have. And it plays better and sounds better, too. So I'm glad about that. School starts for me the day after we get home from our trip. I'm sort of excited and sort of not, as usual. It will be nice to actually live in Manteca so that I'll be able to go to young men's and hang out with the people I've met there (it's been too far away to do either of those things up until now.) Anyway, we'll be back soon and Dad will be back to posting on his regular schedule (or at least, once we get his computer unpacked and the internet worked out.) I'm sure dad will have more to say about our home network once we get there.
By the way, how are you doing on piano, Andy? I was just wondering what pieces you're working on. I recently started tackling Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. It's going to take me another year or so to finish it, but I'm making progress.
Wer'e back and (most of our stuff is) in the house! Unfortunately, we don't quite have internet access yet, so Morrowlife updates will resume in a day or so. Lots of new info. See you then!
AHHHHH! THE BOXES! THEY'RE CLOSING IN! THEY HAVE KNIFES! OR MAYBE SNAKES ON A PLANE, DEPENDING ON WHICH HORRENDOUS "SCARY" MOVIE I WANT TO PARODY! OHHHH NOOOO! *squooosh*
Seriously, there are like half a trillion boxes in this house. Or there were. They're steadily dissapearing, although there are still boxes all over in our loft. It's not very nice. Unpacking isn't fun.
Not much else interesting going on. So... uhhh... bye.
